Siding and Drywall

The brick masons are finishing up, the siding guys have started putting on the Hardiplank siding and the drywall is in! I really like the way the siding and the brick look together. Also note that Mt Diascund is gone! No more moat either! Unfortunately we still have a troll at the gate. Don't forget you can click on a photo to see a larger image.

And More Brick

I just LOVE the details in the brick! The guys are just waiting for “Mt Diascund” (that pile of dirt in front of the house) to fill in the “moat” and then they can continue putting the brick on the front. Right now the grade is too steep to set up the scaffolding in the front next to the door.

Brick, continued

The brick should be finished in a week or so then they have to fill in the “moat” around the house. There’s no water in it but it’s quite deep in places. After that, the siding guys will come in. The area above the front door and the bump out over the garage gets hardiplank siding, the rest of the front is brick. The sides and the back above the brick are siding as well.

Not sure yet what color we’ll paint the door - maybe black to match the shutters.
The bar dividing the kitchen from the breakfast nook. The can light fixtures are already installed. Sarge should be done with the electrical wiring any day now.

We Have Brick!

They have started to apply the brick to the house! Looking good. Sarge has started wiring the house and installing electrical panels. The guys were there today digging the well for water - 180 feet deep! Monday I met with Elaine and Carrie at Ferguson to pick out the lighting. I even managed to stay on budget! Of course it helps when your builder gives you a generous allowance! If all goes according to plan, the sheetrock should start getting installed around the middle of the month, then it’s 60 days until completion! Yeah!

Love those keystones over the windows!
Below is the light I chose to go on either side of the front door. The other outdoor lights are a similar style.

Electrical Walkthrough

We did the electrical walkthrough this past Wednesday with Elaine and Rob from Southern Traditions, and the electrician, “Sarge”. What alot to think about! The plumbing is also almost finished as is the HVAC and duct work. The masonry crew will be putting on the brick next week so we’re excited to see what it will look like.

Kitchen layout. The cabinet guy also stopped by on Wednesday and Rob had to be a little creative in order to get everything I wanted to fit. There was even talk of (Gasp!) losing the kitchen island. No way! This picture is of the counter where the sink and dishwasher will go. We had to shorten the island a little so we could allow for the dishwasher to be opened.

Roof and Windows

The roof is done and the windows have been installed! The garage floor has been poured and we have stairs! Now we can reach the second floor without having to use a ladder! We are so blessed that this is our house.  We LOVE IT! Just met the neighbors right next to us and they are LOVELY people!

Framing Continued

First of all, Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans and active duty military personnel out there!
The house is almost completely framed and is ready for the roof sheathing and shingles.
