Closets and Paint

The walls have been primed and are ready for the paint color. That should happen the beginning of this week. The shelves are in the closets - WOOD! Not wire! YES!!! Just what you would expect from Southern Traditions.
Yang and Ming had their first visit to the house and were really excited to be there. Ming even plotted out his Puppy 500 route! Of course it was fun brushing all the wood chips out of their coats when they got home! This week the cabinets will be installed and the tile work begins. Propane tank is in as is the septic system. We are still a go for a Feb 25 finish date! Tuesday I go pick out the carpet and vinyl for the art room. I also have to decide what kind of backsplash I want in the kitchen.

 Garage door installed.
Below, one of the master bedroom closets (Peter’s).

Top and bottom - the other master bedroom closet (mine). Lots of room!

Above, the drop area as you come in from the garage next to the coat closet. This will be for the hotspot, cell phones, mail, etc.

Above,  the pantry in the kitchen - no wire shelves! The bottom 2 shelves are deeper than the top two.

Trim and Granite

The granite has been chosen! Now all that’s left to pick out is the carpet, vinyl floor for the art room, hardwood floor color (leaning towards a dark stain here), door hardware, bath accessories, mirrors - what have I left out? We chose the paint colors and they should start painting tomorrow. The colors we chose were Benjamin Moore historical colors - Greenbrier Beige for the great room, Shaker Beige for everything else except the dining room, which will be Garrison Red. The trim color will be Dove White.
The shutters are now on the house  (except for one window on the garage).
 The dining room trim work.

 Kitchen granite.
 Master bath granite.
O.K. so I had to include the “kids”. Our townhouse is so small that Yang and Ming have to sleep on top of each other! Just kidding!

Chaghi, our little princess, wanted her picture included too!

Finishing Brick and Interior

Well we got a happy surprise when we went to visit the house on Sat - the area over the front door, which we thought was going to be siding, was done in brick! Southern Traditions continues to amaze us! Right now they are working on the interior trim. The hardwood floors are in - to be stained in the last couple of weeks, as well as the fireplace surround - which I LOVE LOVE LOVE! The septic system is going in, as is the propane tank. The permanent power will be installed in the next week or two. All in all, things are moving along! Rob gave us the proposed construction schedule for the remainder of what’s to be done and we have a date of Feb 25 for when the house will be completed! This coming weekend we will pick out the granite for the kitchen and the master bath, and the paint colors for the house - decisions decisions! As always you can click on a photo to see a larger image.

Me checking out our new fireplace below. The morter was still wet so I imagine when it dries it will be lighter.

Tile choices for the master bath. It looks very light in the photo.

Siding and Drywall Continued

Happy New Year everyone! 2012 was a year of transition for us, full of exciting changes. As much as I look forward to being settled into our new home I’ve throughly enjoyed the house building process. Sometimes a change is definitely in order so that we don’t get stuck in the proverbial rut. Now that the drywall is in, we are told that it will be 60 days until completion, which means we are looking at early March for a move-in date. At least this time we won’t be moving in extreme heat! As you can see in the picture below, the siding is finished on the back and the 2 sides.

 Great Room.
