Hardwood Floors and Crunch Time!

The hardwood floors are stained and look great! One more coat of finish is to be applied but that will happen on March 15 - just before move in. We are aiming for a March 11 modification date so this week is crunch time! We installed the mailbox yesterday and one of the mirrors in the master bath. The other mirror was found damaged when we opened the box so back it went to Bed, Bath and Beyond, who refunded us for it and found another one just like it in their Newport News store. So off I go today to get a new mirror.

Mailbox is in! We are official!

Appliances and Getting Close to the Finish Line

The Appliances are in (except for the fridge) and we are getting close to the finish line! The tile is done with the exception of the kitchen backsplash, and the plumbing and lighting fixtures are in and working! The hardwood floors are being sanded and stained as I type this and should be done by the end of the week. Still waiting for the deck to be done. They started it last week but they stopped for some reason. I’m confident it will be done soon. What’s left to be done? Let’s see, the shower glass surround for the master bath, shower door in the downstairs guest bath, the hood for the cooktop, carpet, some finish trim, the mantle for the fireplace, staining the front door, railing for the stairs, gutters and downspouts, a couple of trim items over 2 front windows, fine grading and seeding, final inspections, cleaning and....Moving In! I’m sure there are a couple of items I forgot. Now the fun part with ordering furniture begins! The budget won’t allow for alot but I just ordered a small glass and rattan table for the breakfast nook. I need to order a new bed for the master bedroom and blinds for the master bedroom and guest room. There’s alot more I’d like but we’ll see how much (if any) money we have left when we modify. A dining room table and chairs, area rug, and entertainment center (I saw a really neat one at Pier One) are all on the wish list. As is new bedroom furniture. We will also have ALOT of landscaping to do!

The outside is almost done! Still need to stain the front door. We’re going with a mahagony stain.

Ming looking down from upstairs. The stairs intimidated him a bit. Not Yang - he was up and down the stairs a bunch of times.
Downstairs guest bath above. We’ll be getting a shower door installed.

Above is the cabinet and sink in the art room. Notice the floor is in!
Above is the laundry room. We put Yang and then Ming into the sink to see if they would fit come bath time. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it. Of course Yang jumped out immediately so I wouldn’t have gotten a photo anyway.
The bar top is installed and breakfast nook tile is in.

Wolf rangetop and GE Profile double ovens.

Yang has made himself quite at home! He’s just wondering where all the furniture is.

Master bathroom. The seat is installed in the shower, just waiting on the shower surround and door.

Granite, Plumbing, and Lighting

The granite has been installed and looks great! The granite in the master bath is more yellow than I remember it but I still love it! Most of the plumbing fixtures are in as is most of the lighting. Love all of it! The stairway railing is being installed as well and looks fantastic! Most important right now is the heat is on in the house! Yes! Pete is having fun playing with the high tech thermostats.
They have also started on building the deck, and the sidewalk and pads for the garage and back 2 doors are in. More on the outside in a later post.

Kitchen. Sorry about the spotty photos.

Cabinets are in!

The walls are painted and the cabinets are in! The tile guys are working on the master bath and the generator and HVAC units are installed. There is still alot to do but it’s moving along. I’m thinking first week of March but Rob is still saying end of Feb. We’ll see. As long as we modify by March 15th we’re good.

Above, the generator, and the downstairs and upstairs hvac units.

The sitting area of the master bedroom.

The dining room - LOVE the color!
Kitchen. Granite to be installed soon. One cabinet has yet to be installed next to the pantry.

Above and below is the laundry room. We hinged the counter so we can get to the litter box that will go under the cabinet.

Art room cabinet above, and upstairs bathroom cabinet below.

Above,  the drop zone between the laundry and door to the garage.
The master bath tile, just waiting to be grouted. The tile guys had a space heater going so it was nice and cozy in there. They still had some more work to do so we got out of their way.
